In a nutshell ACA offers quality, affordable health care for all Americans. This plan requires health plans to provide coverage for, for: (1) specified preventive items or services; (2) recommended immunizations; and (3) recommended preventive care and screenings for women and children. Affordable Care Act subsidies are available depending on how many are in the household and income level. Federal poverty levels are used to determine eligibility for certain programs and benefits including savings on Marketplace health insurance, Medicaid and CHIP coverage. Federal Poverty Level.
Worried about pre-existing conditions? Under the ACA insurance companies can not deny coverage or charge higher premiums based on a person’s medical history. Good news! Right?
Open enrollment begins November 1st. Special Enrollment Period (SEP) are also available.
Possible SEP’s: If you are turning 26 and losing creditable coverage, those under the 150% FPL, those who have had life changes like marriage or divorce.
